Send to Cliproom for Chrome

One click adds the current YouTube video, TikTok video, or Twitch clip to cliproom.live. The extension sends the page's link and title; it does not download videos or open the private queue.

1. Install the extension

  1. Unzip cliproom-chrome.zip. Keep the extracted folder somewhere permanent, such as your Documents folder.
  2. Open Google Chrome on your computer.
  3. Type chrome://extensions in Chrome's address bar and press Return.
  4. Turn on Developer mode in the upper-right corner.
  5. Click Load unpacked.
  6. Select the extension folder inside the extracted cliproom-chrome folder. This is the folder containing manifest.json. Select the folder, not the ZIP file.
  7. Click Chrome's puzzle-piece icon and pin Send to Cliproom to your toolbar.

This is a locally installed extension, not a Chrome Web Store listing. It requires Chrome 114 or newer on a desktop computer. Chrome's phone apps cannot load this extension. See Chrome's official installation instructions.

2. Create a connection key

  1. Open cliproom.live and sign in with the owner password.
  2. Click Extension in the header. If you do not see it, refresh with Command + Shift + R on Mac or Ctrl + Shift + R on Windows.
  3. Enter the name you want shown on submissions, such as Alex's Chrome.
  4. Click Create connection key, then Copy key.

The key is displayed only once. It lets the extension add links only, not see the queue, watch videos, upload files, remove clips, or change settings. You can create separate keys for other people without sharing your owner password. Up to 25 active keys are supported. Each expires after 180 days.

3. Connect Chrome once

  1. Click the pinned Cliproom icon, then Connect to Cliproom.
  2. Paste the connection key into the Connection key field.
  3. Click Connect to cliproom.live. You should see Connected ✓.
  4. Close the connection tab.

You can reopen this page using Settings in the extension popup, or right-clicking the extension icon and choosing Options.

4. Send a clip

  1. Open a specific YouTube video or Short, TikTok video, or Twitch clip.
  2. Click the pinned Cliproom icon once.
  3. Wait for Added to the queue ✓. The owner will see the clip in the queue, normally within 15 seconds.

There is no second submit button. Clicking the icon sends the current supported video immediately. Home pages, channels, playlists, and Twitch live streams/full broadcasts are not supported. Rapid repeat clicks use the same submission request so they do not create duplicate entries. If the connection fails, use Retry.

Disconnect or revoke access

Permissions and privacy

The extension asks for temporary access to the active tab when clicked, local settings storage, and permission to contact https://cliproom.live. It has no content scripts, background browsing monitor, analytics, or access to all websites. It never stores your owner or guest password.

Only the link and page title you choose to submit are sent to Cliproom. The connection key stays in Chrome's local extension storage and is not synced. Local extension storage is not an encrypted password vault; someone with access to your Chrome profile may be able to retrieve the key, but the key can only submit links and can be revoked. A hash and request ID for the most recent submission are stored to avoid accidental duplicates; the extension does not maintain browsing history.

Troubleshooting

The server and extension logic have automated tests. Connection, submission, duplicate handling, and revocation were also checked against the local server through a browser test harness. Installation and permissions inside your Chrome profile are completed by you with the steps above.
